Of the 1,385 London Metropolitan University students affected by the visa fiasco and eligible to re-enrol after the institution struck a deal with the UK Border Agency, 626 have re-enrolled. The remaining 759, or 55 per cent, have either transferred elsewhere or are still deciding what to do.
Those who do re-enrol will be allowed to stay at London Met only until the end of the academic year or until they finish their course, whichever is sooner. This is in line with the agreement between London Met and the UKBA, after the latter revoked the university’s licence to sponsor visa applications for students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
