Increase students’ sense of belonging, universities told

Universities need to foster a sense of belonging in order to increase student retention, according to a report published by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation on 26 July.

About 8 per cent of students drop out of higher education during their first year, but 40 per cent of students surveyed by the foundation had “serious doubts and considered withdrawing”, said the report.
