Prospect union backs Lords report on university STEM subjects

Prospect Union has backed the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee’s report on science, technology, engineering and maths in higher education.

In particular, it backed warnings that higher tuition fees, lack of student finance and a decline in the number of overseas students could harm the subjects. It called for an active industrial strategy that “recognises the central role of high-level STEM skills in promoting growth”.
