Evaluation of Olympics regeneration underway

A research team at Queen Mary, University of London is evaluating the impact of the Olympic Games on the East London areas the event is supposed to help regenerate.

The £2m project, funded by the National Institute for Health Research, examines how various factors will affect children aged 11-13 in Stratford and the Borough of Newham, compared to their peers in neighbouring boroughs not earmarked for Games-related regeneration. The goal is to evaluate the impact of urban regeneration on the social determinants of health, health behaviours and health outcomes of children and their parents.
