Application figures for Oxford and Cambridge remain steady despite an overall 7.7 per cent decline in applications to UK universities this year.
“The University of Cambridge received 15,675 applications by 15th October 2011, an increase of 2 per cent on the previous admissions round,” said a university spokesman.
