The University of Ulster has admitted that it may face a financial penalty after an error forced it to accept more students than it has places.
The university has had to review the cases of 370 applicants to the School of Engineering who received erroneous emails confirming their university places. Only 194 places were available. The university has said that it will honour 350 of the offers it sent, and continues to investigate the remaining 20 cases.
