Queen rewards king’s discovery

Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education have been awarded to 17 universities.

The University of Leicester won one award for its discovery of Richard III’s remains. In a previous year it won the same award for its work on genetics, including the first demonstration of DNA fingerprinting.

The awards, which give royal recognition to research and education, were announced on 21 November at St James’s Palace in London.
