Sussex aims for the stars

The University of Sussex has launched an ambitious plan to reorganise its research in an effort to improve its global competitiveness.

The five-year plan called Making the Future, which will see the former 1994 Group university invest £500 million into developing research infrastructure, was launched on 19 November.

Part of the money is to be spent on a new science block for research in genetics, drug discovery, neuroscience and ecology. The university says it also wants to create three multidisciplinary research centres in an effort to attract more world-class academics. Improving the uptake of its research is also in the plan.
