Top architects to create public space at heart of LSE

The London School of Economics and Political Science has commissioned architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners to design a Global Centre for the Social Sciences.

The brief for the £90-million building called for world-class architecture reflecting LSE’s international reputation. Working with the Royal Institute of British Architects, the school organised a competition from which five architecture firms were shortlisted.

Julian Robinson, director of estates at LSE, said in a statement that the chosen firm had gone “beyond the school’s brief” and would create “a new public square in the heart of the campus”.
