Huawei to put £10m into UK universities

Chinese telecommunications company Huawei plans to invest £10 million over five years to support technology research at UK universities.

The funding, announced on 3 December, will be used for research programmes on information technology, 5G technologies, optical technology, wireless communications and product engineering.

Victor Zhang, chief executive of Huawei UK, said the funding would “nurture the next generation” of scientists.
