Recommendations for Scottish university governance have “disappeared into a sea of ambiguity” in the draft code, a group of 11 student association presidents has said.
In an open letter to Stewart Maxwell, the chairman of the Scottish Education and Culture Committee, the group says it has “deeply held concerns” about the proposed Scottish Code of Good HE Governance. The code was produced by the Committee of Scottish Chairs and published on 16 April.
The 30 April letter, published ahead of an evidence session on the draft, criticises the code for stopping “far short” of the recommendations set out in Ferdinand von Prondzynski’s 2012 Review of Higher Education Governance in Scotland.
