Government urged to increase funding for knowledge exchange

Vice-chancellors have called for an expansion of schemes that support collaboration in R&D and knowledge exchange at universities.

In its submission to the government ahead of the 2013 Spending Round, the vice-chancellors’ group Universities UK has asked for increased support through the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund and the Higher Education Innovation Fund. Both are administered by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

The submission says that in 2015-16, the government should build up the RPIF, which supports investment in higher education research facilities and partnerships between research organisations.
