Five of the UK's top research-intensive universities are forming an alliance in which they will share information on infrastructure investments and access to equipment.
The group, known as the Science and Engineering South Consortium, comprises Imperial College London, the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Southampton, and University College London.
“When we make institutionally funded investments, we will begin to share that information more strategically than we have in the past,” says David Price, UCL’s vice-provost for research. Price added that UCL traditionally spends “millions of pounds” every year on improvements to equipment. Future plans for upgrades will be shared among the members of the consortium.
