Scotland expands museum funding

The Scottish Funding Council has increased the funding for its museums, galleries and collections grant to £6 million over five academic years and has increased the number of universities receiving the grant by four.

The museums, galleries and collections grant funding will increase by £46,000 in 2013-14, to give an annual budget for the grants of £1.2m until 2017-18, to be shared by nine institutions.

The University of Dundee, the University of Stirling, Heriot-Watt University and Robert Gordon University will join the universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews and the Glasgow School of Art as recipients of the grant, it was announced on 18 May.
