The UK government has provided a loan of up to £292 million to help the University of Northampton move to the centre of town.
The total cost is forecast to be £330m, £100m of which will come from the university’s cash reserves and the sale of the existing campus. The government support is part of the UK Guarantees scheme, in which the government acts as a guarantor for major infrastructure projects.
Students and staff should be able to move to the new campus by autumn 2018. Nick Petford, vice-chancellor of the university, said: “Our new Waterside Campus will help to continue the transformation of our institution into a world-leading centre for education, research and social impact.”
