The vice-chancellors' organisation Universities UK has said that three people are in the running to become its next leader.
UUK has confirmed, in an email to Research Fortnight, that Simon Gaskell, president and principal at Queen Mary University of London; Julia Goodfellow, vice-chancellor of the University of Kent; and Colin Riordan, president and vice-chancellor of Cardiff University, are being considered for the role of president of the organisation.
The outcome of the ballot of vice-chancellors or principals of UUK members is expected to be known by 27 November.
