Shearer West, head of the humanities division at the University of Oxford, has been named as the next deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Sheffield.
West, an art historian who is head of the humanities division at the University of Oxford, previously headed up the School of Historical Studies at the University of Birmingham. She has also worked as director of research at the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
She will take up her role at Sheffield in September.
