Wizard guides authors through reporting rules

A tool to help the authors of scientific papers find and use the correct reporting guidelines for a particular journal has been launched by the start-up company Penelope.

The free tool, called the Equator Wizard, allows researchers in the biosciences to check which guidelines are most appropriate for their work and to see whether they have fulfiled them.

There are at present 250 reporting guidelines to chose from; such as those from the National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research, which aim to increase the reproducibility and transparency of animal research.
