Universities back plans for data collection changes

Universities have expressed support for the Higher Education Statistics Agency’s plans to fundamentally redesign the way it collects higher education statistics.

An analysis of responses to the Data Futures consultation, which asked how HESA could make data collection faster and more efficient, was published by the agency on 28 January.

Of the 128 responses to the consultation received, 91.4 per cent supported the "direction of travel" set out in the consultation, including proposals for a fundamental redesign of HESA’s data collection systems. Just 1.6 per cent did not support the plans, while 7 per cent of respondents said they did not have a clear view at this stage.
