The Russell Group has said that its institutions are still open to staff and students from Europe, despite the UK’s vote to leave the European Union.
David Greenaway, chairman of the Russell Group, and Wendy Piatt, its chief executive, published a joint statement in response to the EU referendum result on 5 July.
The statement said that the decision to leave the EU would have a “profound effect on our universities”, adding that reports of increasing xenophobic incidents were “especially concerning” and would not be tolerated on campus.
