Glynis Breakwell, the UK’s highest-paid vice-chancellor and one of its few female ones, has announced her resignation in the face of growing criticism over her pay packet.
Breakwell has decided to step down on 31 August 2018, which is the 17th anniversary of her taking up the post, the University of Bath announced on 28 November.
However, before leaving the institution for good, she will take a paid sabbatical from 31 August to 28 February 2019, the date she has chosen for her retirement. “This timeframe will enable an orderly transition as the university prepares to start the search for a new vice-chancellor,” the institution said in a press release.
