The UK’s universities posted a fractional growth in income from services to businesses and collaborative research in 2015-16, the latest Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey has shown.
Universities earned £4.2 billion from services to businesses and collaborative research in the 2015-16 academic year. This is a slight increase on the £4.17 billion earned in 2014-15. However, the number of start-up companies created by graduates appears to be on a downward trend.
The 2015-16 Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey was published on 6 April by the Higher Education Statistics Agency. It is an annual publication that reports on commercial activity from publicly funded UK higher education institutions.
