The future of a £75-million contract for construction company Carillion to build one of the University of Manchester’s student residencies is in doubt after the firm announced its bankruptcy.
The deal, which was announced in April, contracted Carillion to build the first phase of the University of Manchester’s Fallowfield Student Residencies Project.
A spokesman for the university said: “We can confirm that Carillion is the principal contractor on our Fallowfield student development. At this stage we are considering our options and have no further comment to make.” He could not confirm whether the contract had fallen through.
