Scottish agency to review funding for multi-university collaborations

The Scottish Funding Council has announced a review of its research pooling, an initiative that supports research collaborations among Scottish universities and is credited with helping them win substantial UK-wide funding.

Each pool is built on large, multi-year grants from the SFC. Participating universities provide additional contributions for academic positions and laboratory equipment. The funder and universities have together distributed more than £400 million through its research pools since the initiative was created in 2004.
