System will underpin 2021 assessment of university research
A pilot of the software that will be used to collect universities’ submissions to the 2021 Research Excellence Framework has been launched, and further information on how institutions should prepare for the exercise has been published.
REF 2021 will grade universities’ research quality and determine the destination of more than £1 billion in research funding. It is operated by the UK’s four higher education funding bodies: Research England, the Scottish Funding Council, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland.
