Donelan takes sides in Cambridge free speech row

Governing body to vote on free speech amendments put forward by Campaign for Cambridge Freedom

Universities minister Michelle Donelan has waded into a row about academic freedom at the University of Cambridge.

Donelan signalled her support for a group of academics who are protesting changes by the university that they believe could stifle academic freedom. The minister has backed them by calling their Campaign for Cambridge Freedom an “important grassroots campaign to defend free speech” on Twitter on 27 November.
