Comments come amid widespread backing for government measures to protect universities during Covid-19
Jenny Randerson, chancellor of Cardiff University, has appealed for a “more ambitious package of support” for universities after the government introduced measures to protect UK research during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government package, announced on 27 June by business secretary Alok Sharma, includes loans to make up for the loss of a cross-subsidy from international students, plus £180 million to support research.
