Research managers ‘at risk of burnout’ as deadlines get shorter

  

Managers say Covid-19 has led to increase in short deadlines among major research funders

Research managers are “at real risk of burnout” with an increasing number of short funding deadlines during the Covid-19 pandemic, their professional body has warned.

Jennifer Stergiou, chair of Arma, the UK’s professional association for research managers, said there has been a “considerable increase in the number of short deadlines for funding schemes” during the pandemic and “no decrease in the volume of grant applications being submitted”.
