Adults who struggle to give consent left out of research

    

Academics say research outcomes are being harmed by not including some groups

Research is suffering from an underrepresentation of people with conditions that mean they may struggle to give informed consent, academics have warned.

A report published by the University of East Anglia on 12 October found that people with communication or capacity issues, such as those who suffer from dementia or have had a stroke, are not sufficiently represented in research.
