Minister says upcoming free speech bill will ensure universities promote academic freedom
Michelle Donelan has waded into a row over academic freedom, prompted by calls for a University of Sussex professor to be sacked over the professor’s views on gender.
The minister for higher and further education said on social media on 10 October that it was “unacceptable” for philosophy professor Kathleen Stock to be told she should stay off campus for her own safety, which Stock revealed in an interview with The Times newspaper.
