Steve West to call for long-term research investment in first address as Universities UK president

The incoming president of Universities UK will use his inaugural address to urge the government to be “visionary, brave and bold” in its support for universities at the forthcoming comprehensive spending review.

Speaking at the UUK annual conference tomorrow, 9 September, Steve West (pictured)—vice-chancellor at the University of the West of England—is expected to call on ministers to “harness the power of our universities…through smart policy and targeted public investment”.
