Universities call on government to recommit to investment target

The government needs to reaffirm its commitment to spending a minimum 2.4 per cent of gross domestic product on research and development, the MillionPlus group of universities has said.

In a briefing ahead of the government’s delayed autumn statement, which will take place on 17 November, the group of modern universities also urged ministers to commit to maintaining the current unit of resource for higher education in order to ensure universities can help to deliver the skills agenda.
