Government scraps plans for post-qualification admissions

Department for Education confirms U-turn as University and College Union warns of “grave error”

The government has U-turned on plans that would have involved prospective students in England applying for university only after they received their exam results.

In a statement published on 24 February, further and higher education minister Michelle Donelan said that after a “careful analysis” of responses to a consultation on post-qualification admissions, the government had “decided not to proceed with this at this time”.
