‘Less than half’ of Btecs at risk of defunding, says government

Ministers say awarding bodies will be able to appeal if funding is cut

Only a “small proportion” of applied general qualifications—including Btecs—will lose their funding as part of the reforms that seek to make T-levels the preeminent technical qualification, the government has announced.

Research Professional News has previously covered widespread concerns that the skills bill would defund qualifications that overlap with A levels and T-levels, signalling the end of the line for many Btecs.
