More than 40 per cent of research submitted to REF2021 was given the top 4* rating
The question of how to recognise top-rated research “may come up again” following the results of the Research Excellence Framework 2021, according to the director of the exercise.
Speaking to Research Professional News after the publication of the REF 2021 results on 12 May, REF director at Research England Kim Hackett said there is “an open approach to thinking about what we need to look at next time” when it comes to differentiating top-level research.
