UKRI postgrad shake-up ‘should support small universities’

GuildHE says current funding model for postgraduate training puts smaller, specialist institutions at a disadvantage

The way that postgraduate research training is funded in the UK locks out smaller, specialist institutions, according to GuildHE.

The group, which represents specialist universities, was responding to a call from UK Research and Innovation, the national funding agency, for views on the future of postgraduate research training as part of plans for a ‘new deal’ to improve the experience of junior researchers in the UK.
