Minister urges universities to reconsider membership of race and gender charters
Further and higher education minister Michelle Donelan has written to universities in England urging them to give “careful consideration” to their membership of schemes such as Advance HE’s Race Equality Charter.
In a letter to university leaders, Donelan (pictured) says membership of such diversity schemes is potentially “in tension” with the ability to create an environment that promotes and protects free speech.
