Universities UK and GuildHE make promise after pandemic saw increase in upper degrees awarded
Universities in England have pledged to reverse grade inflation after measures brought in during the pandemic resulted in a spike in the number of firsts and 2:1s.
Universities UK, which represents vice-chancellors, and GuildHE, which speaks for specialist providers, published what they called a “first-of-its-kind statement”, pledging to return to pre-pandemic levels of upper degrees by 2023.
