OfS to introduce ‘requires improvement’ TEF rating

England’s higher education regulator says proposal will help students to identify high-quality provision

The Office for Students has confirmed plans to introduce a “requires improvement” rating to the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Under plans published by England’s regulator on 20 January, undergraduate teaching provision at providers in England would be assessed for a TEF award every four years, with ratings of gold, silver or bronze awarded by an “expert panel”.
