Universities call for MPs to launch inquiry into Office for Students

                            

Russell Group, MillionPlus, GuildHE and University Alliance all cite concerns about regulator’s independence and standards

Universities are pushing for a parliamentary inquiry into the Office for Students, citing “growing concerns” over the English regulator.

The Russell Group, MillionPlus, GuildHE and University Alliance—who represent the majority of UK HE institutions—said there are “growing concerns” among universities that the OfS “is not implementing a fully risk-based approach, that it is not genuinely independent and that it is failing to meet standards we would expect from the Regulators’ Code”.
