Simone Buitendijk will leave role at end of year “to seek new leadership opportunities”

Simone Buitendijk is to stand down from her role as vice-chancellor and president of the University of Leeds after just three years in the job.

In a statement published on 4 October, the university said Buitendijk would “seek new leadership opportunities in higher education” when her tenure comes to an end on 31 December. Buitendijk took up the post in September 2020, after serving as vice-provost for education at Imperial College London.
