Regulator’s new free speech director says OfS will operate in “completely impartial and independent way”

The Office for Students will operate in a “completely impartial and independent way” when it comes to freedom of speech, said Arif Ahmed, the OfS’s new director for freedom of speech and academic freedom.

“There’s no question whatsoever that this [issue] has got anything to do with culture wars or any political agenda,” he said. “We think freedom of speech is too important to be the property of any one political side.”
