Advance HE paper says number of institutions led by women has doubled since 2012-13
An increase in the number of female postgraduate research students appears to have resulted in a “small but noteworthy” improvement in the representation of women among senior academic staff, according to a report.
According to Advance HE’s annual equality and higher education statistical report, published on 15 November, female representation among postgraduate researchers now stands at 51.3% per cent. The report found evidence that there have been improvements in the proportion of female academic staff and professors, although those figures currently stand at just 47.9 per cent and 29.7 per cent respectively.
