Student complaints hit record high for fourth consecutive year

Office of the Independent Adjudicator orders institutions to pay out almost £1.7 million

The Office of the Independent Adjudicator ordered a payout of more than £600,000 for a group of 400 students who complained about Covid-19 disruption in 2022, as student complaints reached yet another record high.

In its annual report, published on 20 April, the OIA said that the total number of complaints made by students in 2022 was the highest on record. Some 2,850 complaints were lodged—an increase of 3 per cent on the previous year and the fourth year in succession that a record number has been filed.
