Hepi paper finds mixed picture for university employment terms

Academics in UK universities have generally favourable working terms and conditions when compared with other sectors, a report from the Higher Education Policy Institute has suggested.

A paper published on 25 May, which aims to offer a comparative study of academic staff terms and conditions, found several areas where working conditions in higher education offer “more generous benefits than employers elsewhere”—such as pensions provision, amount of annual leave, sick pay, parental leave and access to sabbaticals.
