Reports of suspicious emails as fallout from incident continues

Students have received suspicious emails after data was accessed by hackers during a recent cyberattack at the University of Manchester, the institution has confirmed.

A “small proportion” of data was copied by the hackers when they got into a system used by the university to manage student accommodation and a system for the university’s alumni activities, the university said on 23 June in an update on the incident, which was first announced on 9 June.
