Nerc leadership
Environmental chemist Peter Liss is stepping in as interim executive chair of the Natural Environment Research Council, taking over from Duncan Wingham. Wingham is due to stand down on 12 June after 11 years in the role. Liss, an emeritus professor at the University of East Anglia, has had a distinguished career in environmental sciences. As well as serving on the Nerc council for five years, and chairing both its marine and atmospheric science boards, he has been a member of the scientific advisory council for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
