Scottish universities see 40% jump in international students

    

“Record number” recruited in the last academic year, says Scottish Funding Council

The number of international students recruited by universities in Scotland jumped by almost 40 per cent from 2020-21 to 2021-22, according to data published by the Scottish Funding Council.

Scottish institutions recruited “a record number” of more than 40,510 international (non-EU) students in 2021-22, a 39.8 per cent increase on 2020-21. But the overall participation of Scottish-domiciled students fell by almost 1 per cent to 226,565.
