Institution pledges increase in wild areas and hints that more may follow in future

The University of Sussex has promised to dedicate more than 40 per cent of its campus to nature by 2027, with plans to let wild areas “develop freely” across parts of the campus.

The university announced on 4 August that it will set aside 42 per cent of its campus for the purpose, up from the 38 per cent that is currently ringfenced, and said that it “may go further in future”.
