University union leader condemns ‘fascist violence’ across England

Government urged to address anti-migrant rhetoric following spate of violence

The general secretary of the University and College Union, Jo Grady, has condemned the “racist and Islamophobic violence” that has taken place across England this week.

Several instances of violent disorder have followed the killing of three young girls in Stockport last week. The disorder, which has included attacks on mosques and riots in towns, was inflamed by misinformation regarding the identity of the girls’ killer.
